Novels in the Works

Currently working on Roland Longville #7, which is based on the disappearance of a young Alabama woman....also working on a novel set in Anniston, Night Once More, which is about an ex-con trying to stay straight in a moral, cultural, and intellectual wasteland during the Great Recession; a novel about a gunman seeking redemption while losing his mind; my first Science Fiction novel, set in a Dystopia that only Dante could love; and another crime novel about a man who has to return to his boyhood home of Mobile to find the people who killed his best friend, and bring down the pain. Oh, and an epic novel about a fictional Alabama sheriff, which takes you from his first big case, to his last.

...and a novel about a terrorist attack on the USA.

There are others, but these are all off to a good start. Not enough time in the day.....

Oh, and my serial killer Poetry Book concept, but that's enough for now...

I have a lot to think about...

I've been neglecting my blog in the week following my belated completion of The Burning Day. So here's what's going on with me. A lot of things from the dark murky past have come calling as of late, in the form of three very different people from different stages of my life. With the reentry of each of these people into my life, I am presented with a choice. We always have a choice, no?

These are the kinds of choices that make you stop and think, even of you are the most impulsive type of person...which I might have been, once, but no longer. Forty years of living better teach you to consider the consequences before you take that big step. Taking a few tumbles will teach you caution, and I have had my share.

Anyway, time to pull myself together and get busy on Roland Longville #7, Friends with Death. It's going to be my best one yet, I do believe.

Roland Longville Number Six...Finally

Well, I finally put the finishing touches on Roland Longville #6, The Burning Day. No, this is not the cover. The publisher send me a first-look galley of the cover, though, and I really like it. The Burning Day is at the editor, at this stage. I really hope that it does well. This cover is appropriate, I felt, as I have been criticized for being too violent, foul-mouthed and lurid, as a writer, which pleases me, since Raymond Chandler was criticized for all of those things also, and he is my hero. I was pumped after finishing this book, so I edited and uploaded a bunch of history themed short stories to Scribd. I touch on The Battle of Maldon, Custer's Last Stand, the pirate Stede Bonnet, as well as some other (violent, foul-mouthed, and lurid) themes.

....and now for number seven!
